What do I have to do in case I have a complaint? Will my new hair look natural? The DHI No Touch Technique™ is a groundbreaking procedure that provides amazing results. As the transplanted follicles grow, you will not be able to see a difference between your own hair and the transplants. Of course your hair will never appear as thick and full as it did in your teenage years, but your implanted follicles will grow healthy, natural hair. Even if you have a substantially receding hairline and large bald area, you will receive excellent coverage with this method. Back to top How dense will my new hair be? In each DHI session, follicles are inserted between existing hairs or previously placed hairs. Follicles can generally be placed up to 1 millimeter apart allowing for an average density of 60 hair per cm2, equivalent to natural hair density before the onset of hair loss. Back to top Are most patients genuinely happy with their DHI results? Absolutely. We recommend visiting the testimonials section of our site to read letters from our previous customers. We can also introduce you to our current customers via one on one meetings. Back to top Will I need to take a vacation after treatment? Definitely not. The day after your treatment our staff will need to inspect and wash your head. You are free to return to work and your daily life. It is essential for you to use the specially designed Post operative DHI Shampoo included in your take away package for optimum results. Back to top What are the side effects of this procedure? - The local anesthetic can occasionally cause swelling of the forehead for 3 - 4 days post procedure. There is no pain, or danger, and only 10% of patients experience this side effect. Massaging the forehead gently from the center to the sides can help.
- Some patients develop small red individual spots in the recipient area of the head months after the procedure. This is an irritation of the skin and can be cleared up easily by using Betadine medicated shampoo once a day for 4 days. During this period it is important that no other shampoos or hair products are used on the head.
- It is EXTREMELY important in the first 4 months to wash the scalp very thoroughly in order to stop possible complications. The main thing to remember is that the scalp needs to be totally free of dead or dry skin build up. If an infection occurs it is necessary to ask your doctor to prescribe antibiotics. The usual reason for infections is that the scalp is not being washed thoroughly or scrubbed hard enough, allowing a build up of dead skin. This build-up blocks new hair from coming through, causing an infection.
- It is normal for the newly placed hairs that were attached to the new follicular units to fall out within the first 4-8 weeks post procedure. Do not be concerned, as this is part of the growth process. After the hair has fallen, a new growth cycle begins, that will start to come in within 2-4 months. The newly placed hairs will be fully grown between 8-12 months following the procedure.
Back to top Will I have the moth-like look on the back of my head due to the large number of extracted follicles? Absolutely not. The extraction instrument (D.H.I. Implanter) is minimally invasive, and healing is extremely rapid. Five days after the procedure no one will be able to see any evidence that you have had a procedure done. More primitive hair restoration surgeries were easily recognized, such as the “strip method” and they were a prime motivator for the development of the DHII No Touch Technique™. Back to top How can someone detect that I have had an operation? The first days after the session, tiny red spots may be visible in the donor and recipient areas. These will gradually fade and disappear during the first week. After that period, there are no visible signs, no scarring or stitches in either the donor or recipient area. Back to top Are there post-procedure instructions so that I do not damage my new hair follicles?
Post operative information 1) Slight redness for the first 4-5 days. 2) Spray of the grafts with N/S solution right after the procedure and for the next 2 days every about 1 hour. 3) Only possible medication: Medrol (prednisolone) [along with ranitidine for gastric protection] for 3 days, according to the location of the recipient area. Antibiotics are given only if the doctor decides that it is necessary. 4) Totally healing of the donor and the recipient areas in 7 days. 5) First total head wash on the third post op day and then twice a day for the next 7-10 days. After that, head wash once a day. 6) Usage of DHI products recommended for a year. 7) Full day’s programme (swimming, exercise, hats of any kind) 10 days post op. 8) Avoid excess exposure to the sun for the next month (especially during summer). 9) Locally usage of minoxidil starting 10-14 days post op and for 6-8 months in total. 10) Slight symptoms such as needle kind pain, numbness, itchiness for about a month, gradually reducing. What do I have to do in case I have a complaint? DHI’s POLICY for a CLIENT Who is Not Happy with His Results At DHI we implement the most strict quality control protocols more so than any hair restoration clinic worldwide: 1. We are registered and adhere to Care Quality Commission guidelines 2. We were the first hair restoration clinic to be awarded ISO 9002 CERTIFICATION 3. We also implement our own DHI Total Care System Most importantly, Direct Hair Implantation eliminates 99% of the growth risk factors. With FUE and Strip the risks are much higher. Please visit our site dhiwebinars.com and check the risk factors associated with each method. We are proud to declare that with Direct Hair Implantation we have 100% client satisfaction! Of course when all DHI Clinics adopt 100% Direct Hair Implantation AND THOUSANDS OF SESSIONS ARE PERFORMED EVERY YEAR, we can expect to have some dissatisfied clients. Using the previous method, this percentage was under 1%. Naturally, we expect that lever to be measured as low as 0.2% with Direct Hair Implantation. According to our complaints policy and evaluation system in the standard consent form you have signed before your session you have confirmed that: "I understand that if I am not satisfied with my results after 18 months evaluation I can complain in writing to the clinic manager. I have been reassured by DHI that the Clinic Manager will respond to my complaint in writing within 48hrs with all the steps that DHI intends to take to resolve any issues that have lead to my dissatisfaction. I will also have a right of appeal to the Global Medical Director if I remain unhappy with the way the clinic manager has dealt with my complain. This is in accordance with the Care Quality Commission and ISO guidelines." Back to top
